Getting Started
Up and running in under 5 minutes.
Installation
ClearPath is available for Chrome and Firefox. Install it directly from the browser store — no account required.
Chrome users: also works on Edge, Brave, Arc, and Opera.
First Use
After installing, pin the extension to your toolbar by clicking the puzzle piece icon in Chrome and pinning ClearPath. This puts the icon in your toolbar for quick access.
Click the ClearPath icon to open the control panel. From here you can toggle features on and off, adjust settings, and manage profiles.
Read Aloud
Read Aloud works immediately after installation — no setup needed.
To read selected text: highlight any text on a page, then right-click and choose "Read Aloud." The text will be spoken with each word highlighted as it's read.
To read the full page: click the ClearPath icon in your toolbar and press the Read Page button.
Keyboard shortcut: Alt + R to toggle reading.
Tip: Open the popup settings to configure voice, speed, and pitch. Your settings are saved automatically.
Reading Mode
Reading Mode strips the current page down to its main content and applies your typography preferences.
To activate: click the ClearPath icon and toggle Reading Mode, or press Alt + M.
In Reading Mode you can adjust font family (including OpenDyslexic), font size, line spacing, letter spacing, and choose from six colour themes. Your preferences are remembered per site.
Simplify
Simplify rewrites selected text in plain English. It requires an LLM API key to use, but works without one using a basic rule-based fallback.
To use: select any text, right-click, and choose "Simplify." A panel will appear with the rewritten text.
Set up your API key →Profiles
Profiles let you save a named set of accessibility settings and switch between them quickly. They're especially useful for SLPs and caregivers who configure ClearPath for someone else.
Profiles can be exported as JSON and shared — hand a profile file to a caregiver and they can import it with one click.
